New Website

Hello fellow guildmates. The website has been up for nearly half a year now (yay!) and I decided to finally address many of the issues that plagued our members with the old website.

By now you should have noticed that the website looks completly different. Personally, I believe that this website looks more professional as it is compact, easy to read, and works with many different monitor resolutions. Some of you may have experienced display issues with the previous theme. Images didn't fit well, profile pictures cluttered and distracted from the content, and the website itself was very 'large'.

The banner I used was only chosen because, well, its the only one that I have. Currently I am looking for screenshots consisting of 15 or more guildies. I prefer to have them WITHOUT our name and guild name tags on, something which can be disabled from the interface menu prior to screen capture. Feel free to upload any photos (I can do all the cropping) in the gallery.

Unfortunately I was forced to remove all of our existing profile photos/avatars. I did this simply because they were too large for the new format of the website. Rather than 200x200 px avatars, members are now limited to the dimensions of 100x75. The new avatars are designed to be 'low key' so that they do not draw attention from the content of the website.

If for some reason you decide that you enjoyed the older style website better, you can easily revert the settings of your account back to a previous theme. This can be accomplished by:

1) Select the "My account" link, now located on your vertical navigation bar to the left.
2) Select the "Edit" link, which is located on the horizontal link bar on your profile page.
3) Scroll down and select the previous theme, entitled Deco.
4) Press the Submit button.

Future themes will be added to the website and will be selectable by the same process.

The forum has also been updated. In the past, users were plagued by the fact that the original poster of new forum pages was not listed. This forced members to locate the forum manually to determine who posted the page. This is no longer the case as user names are not properly displayed on all forum posts.

I also rewrote the comment permissions. Users no longer have to preview comments prior to submission. This speeds up the posting process. Users can still edit their posts if the notice any mistakes or wish to make changes at a later time.

The use of polls has also been enabled. Expect to be able to participate in guild voting in the future. Please note, the usage of polls on the website are intended to allow all Diligence members input in certain situations but it does not mean that all decisions will be determined via polling. Some decisions will remain in the hands of Officers and Guild Masters.

The Application page has also been rewritten in a more mature way in order to deter lazy applications.

There have also been other light edits of various pages throughout the website in order to maintain a general "mood" throughout the site.

I hope that you all enjoy the new website as much as I do. If you notice any new problems, feel free to send me a message and I'll attempt to fix as many of them as possible now that I have time.
