Mains vs Alt

At the last officer meeting, we discussed the loot policy regarding Mains vs Alts on raids. We're tired of seeing undergeared toons in advanced content, and we're tired of high-demand loot going to toons that hardly ever raid. This does not help us progress, nor is it realy fair.

A lot of ideas were thrown around, but eventualy we reached the following concensous.

Gurus and Raid Leaders are going to be more strict regarding eligibility for raids. In other words, if you're not geared/speced/experienced enough for an event, you don't get to come. This is and has always been in the rules.

The Raid Leader can make an exception, but this will be rare. It will most likely happen only in the case where we are desperately short of a particular class.

People are able to declare two 'Main' characters, with certain limitations. Main characters must be your best geared toons, they must already meet the gear/spec/experience check, and they must be of different types (i.e. you are NOT allowed to have 2 DPS, 2 Tanks or 2 Healers as your Mains).

All other characters are consider Alts. Points are still pooled amongst all your characters, but Alts have a point cap of 30 when rolling on loot. We expect you to bring one of your Mains to raids not yet on farm status, regardless of whether you need drops from that particular event or not.

Quite frankly, were sick of the greed we're seeing. We're tired of hearing, "Well, my main doesn't really need any drops from here, so I'm going to bring my toon that's wearing all unenchanted, ungemmed blues that I have no raiding experience on." Our goal is to progress as much as we can, which can only happen by gearing up our main toons as much as we can. The guild does not exist to gear up your alts. That only slows us down.

However, we understand that some people have second toons that do in fact help the guild progress, which is why we're allowing people to have 2 Mains.

For the moment, we're going to use the public notes to record which toons are Mains. An "M" or an "A" at the beginning designates a Main or an Alt toon.

Following the "M" or "A" is your toon's Main Spec. Anything else you want in your public note, such as your professions, follows that. For example, Azod's public note is "M Holy : Herb/Elixir Alch".
